MP and MCE Engage Sefwi Asawinso Residents at Town Hall Meeting

Hon. Kofi Benteh Afful, Member of Parliament for the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency, and Hon. Dominic Gyasi, Municipal Chief Executive for the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality, have engaged residents of Sefwi Asawinso at a town hall meeting focused on the community’s development priorities. The meeting brought together community members, traditional and opinion leaders, Heads of Departments and Units, and other stakeholders. It provided an open platform for residents to ask questions, raise concerns and contribute suggestions directly to the leadership of the Municipality.

Listening to Community Priorities

Discussions covered important matters affecting residents, including infrastructure development, water and sanitation, education, healthcare delivery, livelihoods and local economic opportunities.

Hon. Dominic Gyasi presented information on the Assembly’s projects, achievements and development plans. Hon. Kofi Benteh Afful also thanked residents of Asawinso and the surrounding communities for participating in the engagement.

The MP and MCE jointly responded to questions raised by residents and provided explanations on the issues presented. The engagement allowed both leaders to hear directly from the people and better understand the needs and expectations of the community. The proposed 24-hour market project for Asawinso was among the major development initiatives discussed at the meeting. The project is intended to improve the local trading environment, support commercial activity and create economic opportunities.

Following the town hall engagement, the market project progressed to the sod-cutting stage, marking the beginning of its implementation.

The meeting reaffirmed the importance of involving residents in decisions that affect their communities. Open engagements of this nature strengthen communication, improve accountability and help ensure that development priorities reflect the actual needs of the people.
