Construction Begins on Asawinso 24-Hour Market

Construction of the Asawinso 24-Hour Market has officially begun following the sod-cutting ceremony, marking a significant step in transforming the project from a development proposal into reality. Hon. Kofi Benteh Afful, Member of Parliament for Sefwi Wiawso Constituency, has welcomed the commencement of work and described the project as an important investment in commerce, employment and community welfare.

The Asawinso 24-Hour Market is being developed as a modern economic hub that will provide traders and customers with a safer, better organised and more supportive environment.

The planned development extends beyond conventional market facilities. Key components are expected to include a police station, health clinic, fire service office, baby day-care unit and a women’s development bank. These facilities are intended to strengthen security, improve access to essential services and provide practical support to traders, families and businesses operating within the market.

The project recognises the important contribution of market women and local traders to the economy of Asawinso and the wider Sefwi Wiawso Municipality. He also acknowledged the Chiefs for their leadership and support and thanked the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, for coordinating the initiative.
