Investing in Our Children, Building Our Future

The Member of Parliament for Sefwi Wiawso Constituency, Hon. Kofi Benteh, and the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, together with the Municipal Director of Education, conducted an educational engagement across selected schools within the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality.

The exercise was organised to welcome new entrants as they began their formal education, engage with teachers, parents and school authorities, and assess the general readiness of the schools to receive the young learners.

Schools and Communities Visited as part of the exercise, the delegation visited:

1. Domeabra Municipal Primary School

2. Punikrom Municipal Basic School

3. Schools within Camp

4. Schools within Anyinabrim

5. Boako English and Arabic Basic School

   

The first day of school is a significant milestone in every child’s educational journey. It is often filled with excitement and curiosity. For some young learners, it can also bring uncertainty and a few tears as they enter a formal learning environment for the first time.

During the visits, Hon. Kofi Benteh, Hon. Dominic Gyasi and the Municipal Director of Education interacted with the pupils and encouraged them as they took their first steps into formal education.

The delegation also engaged teachers, and school authorities to understand how prepared the schools were to receive the children and identify areas where additional support might be required. Particular attention was given to ensuring that the new entrants felt safe, welcomed and comfortable in their learning environments. A positive introduction to school can shape a child’s attitude towards education and strengthen their willingness to attend, participate and learn. The support provided by teachers, parents and school authorities during this early stage is therefore essential.

The exercise also provided an opportunity for the delegation to observe the general condition of the schools and discuss how the relevant stakeholders could work together to improve teaching and learning. Improving education requires strong cooperation among the Office of the Member of Parliament, the Municipal Assembly, the Ghana Education Service, school authorities, teachers, parents, traditional leaders and community members.

Hon. Kofi Benteh remains committed to working with the Municipal Chief Executive, the Municipal Directorate of Education and other stakeholders to support quality education across the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency. The goal is to help create an environment where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and realise their full potential.
