Hon. Dominic Gyasi Meets Pragyia Executives Over Reported Unauthorised Fare Increases
The Municipal Chief Executive has met with Pragyia Riders Association executives following reports that some riders had increased their fares without consulting the Assembly.
The Municipal Chief Executive for the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, has met with executives of the Pragyia Riders Association following reports that some riders had increased their fares without consulting the Municipal Assembly.
The meeting was held to address concerns about the reported fare increases and ensure that any changes to transport fares are properly agreed upon and clearly communicated to the public.
Hon. Dominic Gyasi expressed concern about riders increasing fares without following the appropriate process. He emphasised the need for Pragyia operators to comply with the directives of the Municipal Assembly and avoid imposing arbitrary charges on passengers.
The MCE urged the association’s executives to engage their members and ensure that riders continue to charge the approved fares until any change has been properly discussed and communicated.
The executives of the Pragyia Riders Association acknowledged the concerns raised during the meeting and assured the MCE of their willingness to work with the Municipal Assembly to resolve the matter.
They also committed to engaging their members and encouraging them to comply with the approved fare arrangements.
The Municipal Assembly will continue working with transport operators and other stakeholders to promote fair transport charges and protect the interests of both passengers and riders within the Municipality.
